Animal Welfare Statistics
In August 2004, a summit of animal welfare industry leaders from across the nation convened at Asilomar in Pacific Grove, California, for the purpose of building bridges across varying philosophies, developing relationships, agreeing on common definitions and creating goals focused on significantly reducing the euthanasia of healthy and treatable companion animals. The statistical guidelines developed from this meeting became known as the Asilomar Accords.
St. Hubert’s Animal Welfare Center compiles data according to these definitions and tracks our shelter population utilizing the Asilomar Accords.
