Paws For People Pet Therapy Program

Introduction

Operating since 1982, the Paws for People (PFP) program visits multiple facilities in Northern New Jersey. Volunteers and their therapy pets bring the benefits of animal companionship to schools, libraries, hospitals, nursing homes, rehabilitation centers and other facilities.

Simply petting, touching or talking to animals have shown to improve physical and mental well-being.  As much as Pet Therapy has wonderful benefits for those who receive visits, it’s also therapeutic to those who offer it!

Paws for People teams are made up of volunteers and their beloved pet.  Each team is put through an evaluation and receive onsite mentor training.  If you’re interested in joining the program read through our frequently asked questions for additional information and how to get started.
