Moira Clarkin
Moira believes that successful dog training is really about building strong communication and lifelong bonds between families and their dogs.
She approaches every class from the perspective of "the average dog owner trying to figure out how to have their dog as a member of their family" because she knows that every owner and dog is different, requiring patience and practice to learn together
-
Moira's journey at St. Hubert's began just like yours might – as a hopeful dog owner looking for help.
Nearly 30 years ago, she enrolled her family's first dog, Phoebe, in Basic classes and worked their way up through Advanced. Her dedication earned her an invitation to volunteer as a trainer assistant, which led to an apprenticeship, and 26 years later, Moira continues to help families build the same strong foundations she discovered with Phoebe.
-
Moira's most important advice to new pet owners is simple but profound: Be patient..
“Our dogs do not come to us knowing what we want or what we think of as 'good behavior'. It takes patience and practice to learn together."
She knows that every dog teaches us something new and stretches our skills in different ways, and that the path isn't always easy – but it's always worth it. -
Moira brings a genuine understanding of the learning process from both sides.
She's taken enrichment classes in Agility, Rally, Competition Obedience, and pet therapy, and serves as an AKC Evaluator, always expanding her knowledge to better serve her students.

Her life with Eddie gives her real-world understanding of what it means to live with a dog who brings both joy and the occasional challenge. -
Debra's approach is refreshingly honest and practical. Her golden rules for success? "Be patient, be consistent, have realistic expectations, and don't forget to have a good sense of humor." This isn't about perfection—it's about progress. Debra helps families understand that every dog learns at their own pace, and every small victory is worth celebrating.
-
With over 14 years of experience, Debra has mastered the art of making training feel achievable rather than overwhelming.
