Over the past twenty years, Kathleen has been successfully managing numerous animal welfare and community based projects.
Kathleen’s previous positions at The Humane Society of the United States as State Council Director and the former New Jersey Senior State Director allowed her to strengthen animal protection laws on the local/state/federal level, initiate and cultivate relationships with lawmakers, and collaborate with the animal welfare community to work in a unified fashion. A key component of her work has been building and maintaining relationships and coalitions with legislators, government officials, academia, businesses, and core volunteers.
Some of her work involved developing strategies to implement national campaigns, promote emergency and disaster preparedness, communicate with local/national media, present at conferences and forums, maintain relationships with state agencies and public officials, facilitate enforcement of animal protection laws, and advance development opportunities.
In addition, Kathleen was co-lead in the HSUS disaster response team during Super Storm Sandy operating with the Governor’s Office, Department of Agriculture, County Offices of Emergency Management, County Animal Response Teams, and NGOs to assist in direct animal care, search and rescue, temporary sheltering, intake/release, veterinary care, and specialized in communication with media and the public.
Kathleen began her career in animal welfare as Director of Humane Education at the Monmouth County SPCA where she successfully expanded the program, initiated the first Legislation and Advocacy campaign within the organization, led discussions with local municipal administration to enact TNR, and oversaw the Certified Pet Therapy Program.
Her ability to development and deliver effective, high impact campaigns, advocacy and policy initiatives, and make quality decisions under strict deadlines in high pressure situations has made her a leader within the field and known for achieving results.
Kathleen shares her home with her beloved human and animal family.
